What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a tool for making changes in your life. Hypnosis is a state of mind in which suggestions are acted upon much more powerfully than is possible under normal conditions i.e. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness in which the reasoning, evaluating, judging part of your conscious mind is bypassed.
Hypnosis is a state of mental and physical relaxation, along with a more focused sense of concentration. Hypnosis is not a fact; most people find they are more aware of smells, sounds and feelings than usual.
There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding hypnosis, and certainly there exists the misinformation about it being a form of unwilling mind control. The reality of hypnosis is that it can be a very effective tool in the hands of a hypnotherapist, or even in the hands of a well practiced self hypnosis layman. Self hypnosis can be used to treat many disorders in our lives, or to strengthen traits. We believe to be weak.

Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for not only those things which you normally think about on your own, it has also been shown to work on the subconscious level to help control things in your life which work automatically. This means that self hypnosis can be used to control things about you that you do not have to keep in forefront of your mind for it to be successful.

Self diagnosis has been used for many years to alleviate certain personal problems such as unfounded fears, poor memory and poor concentration, improve study skills and help public speakers become more comfortable in front of large crowds. Self hypnosis can also be utilized to help the user in sleep learning. It has been shown that using self hypnosis prior to sleep learning it has much more effective results than sleep learning alone.
